Introducing Kitty & Maxwell
Kitty & Maxwell
Love Hate Relationship
He chases her, she hisses at him, he jumps on her, she screeches very loud. That’s just a regular day. There are times, though, when they will just walk up to each other and smell each others mouths.. I like to call it, kitty kissing.
Kitty
Born: December 10th, 2005
From: Courtenay, BC

She is usually a happy kitty, but there are times when she is a straight up bitch. In January 2006, I was living in Courtenay for a few months, I walked into a petshop and saw her with her little blue eyes and just couldn’t resist. I walked out of that pet shop with her. She’s been through a few different names. First, she was Flea, as she was covered in them when I got her. It was very gross but the baths came and the fleas went. I felt he name Flea didn’t really suit her, so for a few days I tried out Blaze, but to no avail. She is the Kitty. It’s so unoriginal, but she just suits it. For the first 5 months of her life she lived with Eddie; a tee-cup poodle, Teemu; a shihtzu, Nikki; a medium sized mix, and Numminen; an orange tabby cat. It only took about a week before Numminen and Kitty became great friends. They snuggled and loved eachother. In late February 2006, Teemu had 4 little shihtzu puppies, so they were also growing up with the Kitty.
In May 2006, I moved back to Edmonton, where we now reside. She has had a few different adventures in her day including a two week outing starting July 1st. She ran out the door when we had a Canada Day celebration. We were very scared and weren’t sure if she was going to come back. After printing flyers and hanging them on a ton of poles in our neighbourhood, we would go out and walk a few times a day calling her name, shaking treats, and just wishing she would come out. We decided to try a cat trap and it did indeed work! The first time we found a cat in the trap, it was a huge orange male cat. This indicated to us that there were obviously males in the neighbourhood that roamed the streets. Our poor Kitty was sure to bring home some kittens in her belly, if she did come home. On the morning of Friday, July 13th, 2007, at 6am, she was found in the trap. We caught her. It was a glorious day, to say the least. Also, she didn’t get pregnant. A few scratches on her nose, but no kittens! She’s a prude kitty.
In August 2007, we brought home Maxwell, a wild farm kitten from Edson.
Maxwell
Born: July 26th, 2007
From: Edson, AB

Maxwell is my other kitty and I love him. He sure loves food, he does! If you’re eating it, he wants to eat it too. He loves to go outside and murmels at the door when you go to leave anywhere. Sometimes, I will pick him up and take him outside on my shoulder to get glances of the trees and such which he yearns to climb. Periodically, we will take Kitty & Maxwell in the backyard to let them play while I take pictures of them. Maxwell loves to sleep in our presence and just generally loves to be with us. He will follow us around to see what we’re doing, a ton more curious then the Kitty.
As much as Maxwell wants to escape, he has not been successful. He has, however, gotten out the door, but then he stops on the front step because he’s scared. Before we got the Kitty & Maxwell fixed, Kitty would go into heat, Maxwell would chase her down and jump on her but she would wiggle away and screech as loud as possible, which then, would make Maxwell run away. Through six months of this, she still didn’t get pregnant. She just wouldn’t let it happen. Since both of them have gotten fixed, they are much more relaxed and don’t hate each other as much. When Maxwell first came into the house , she wouldn’t be in the same room as him, constantly hissing and just being a huge bitch. Now, a couple years later, they will lay within a few feet of each other and kitty kiss sometimes.
